髪型が多様化、ロブスターに月餅も アップルが新しい絵文字披露
ニューヨーク（ＣＮＮＭｏｎｅｙ） 米アップルは１６日、スマートフォンの「ｉＰｈｏｎｅ」やタブレット端末の「ｉＰａｄ」で提供予定の新しい絵文字７０種類を披露した。髪型や髪の色が増えたほか、スーパーヒーローからロブスターまで多様な絵文字が加わっている。
アップルの絵文字は、今年で４年目となる１７日の「世界絵文字デー」に合わせて披露された。年内に公開されるｉＰｈｏｎｅやｉＰａｄ向けの「ｉＯＳ」更新版に盛り込まれる予定。
人の顔の絵文字はヘアスタイルや髪の色が増え、カーリーヘアやスキンヘッド、赤毛や白髪が加わった。
世界絵文字デーの創設者で、絵文字に詳しいジェレミー・バージ氏は、絵文字に対しては多様性の表現を求める声が最も大きいと指摘、アップルの新しい絵文字はそうした声の一部が反映されていると述べ、特に赤毛やカーリーヘアは人気が出るだろうと予想している。
動物の絵文字はオウムやカンガルー、ロブスター、クジャクが新しく登場。エアコンが効きすぎた職場で働く人は、凍るような寒さで真っ青になった顔のアイコンを重宝するかもしれない。ほかにも野菜やマンゴー、カップケーキ、月餅といった食べ物などが登場する。
新しい絵文字は非営利組織のユニコードコンソーシアムが今年２月に発表した。アップルやグーグルなどはその中からどれを採用するかを選び、それぞれの絵文字を独自にデザインしている。
グーグルの絵文字は、ビールの泡やハンバーガーの中身の順番をめぐって物議をかもしたこともある。いずれの問題も後に修正された。
